Document Management Link (DML) Overview

Document Management Link is part of Information Manager by Orchid. DML builds on your existing document scanning and capture systems by making your documents easily available from within Sage 300.

Documents are not stored in the database. This is by design, to limit the size impact on the Sage 300 database. This design also has other benefits:

  • To move documents from one path to another, you just need to update the configuration.

  • You can share documents across Sage 300 companies without duplicating the documents.

  • Lets you link to documents created by third-party applications, providing they are named in a manner consistent with the DML configuration

Key features include:

  • You can link files from Network Folders or SharePoint to Sage 300 fields.

  • Any Sage 300 field displayed on a screen, including Grid fields, (except for check-boxes or drop-down selections)

  • Up to two fields, e.g. Vendor and Item, to filter selection Sub-directories

  • Specify which screens will trigger the display of linked documents

  • Configure filters to restrict which files to display

  • Compatible with 3rd party Sage 300 modules developed in the SDK, where the screen is developed in the Sage 300 SDK.

  • Supports documents stored in a Network Folder when using the Sage 300 Web Screens.

To get started:

  • Confirm where you are going to save the documents (Network Folder, including synchronised Dropbox,Google Drive, OneDrive folders, or SharePoint).
