Upgrade Extender Tips
Key Considerations
The scripts, modules and other customisations developed using Extender are saved in the Sage 300 database. They are included in a Dump/Load of the data. They will upgrade automatically when you install and activate the latest version.
We always recommend doing a test upgrade and testing the processes, in particular if upgrading from older versions, as there may have been database changes.
Key Steps
In a test environment
-
Install the latest version
-
Activate Sage 300 core modules and Extender
-
Enter the new version Extender license details
-
Check the Python version in Extender options. See Python version
-
If using Workflow and TeamWork, go to Extender Modules screen and import the latest modules (workflow.vi, teamwork.vi and the other workflow modules if using) from the VIxxA folder
-
Test your customizations and main processes
-
Update configuration if required.
In the live environment
Repeat the same steps after testing.
Troubleshooting
Error EL001 returned null
If you activate Extender version 2026 in a database with EFT Processing v2025 activated before activating EFT Processing v2026, you may get an error message EL001 returned Null.
This message is due to an error creating the Workflow View Defaults before EFT Processing is upgraded. The rest of the upgrade completes successfully.
After upgrading EFT, you can then re-import the workflow.vi module to complete the import of workflow view defaults.
The same logic applies to other modules such as RMA or AC Chat.
Workflow users upgrade
Workflow users are configured on the Extender Licence screen.
Refer to Extender License and Workflow Users for details on upgrading workflow users.
