Event Types.
The Event Types form lets you:

Create events that can be attached to changes to Views or View Field values.

Log changes done to a View or a View fields

Run a program

Send an email

Create an Information Manager Note

Note: Each event is identified in the background with a unique 16-character Event Type ID code.
Enter up to 16 characters to identify this event type.
Enter up to 30 characters for a description to allow you to easily identify this event.
If the event is to be attached to multiple view fields in one view, then select one of :
- Combine : to have only one event being triggered if more than one view field changes at the same time.
- Don’t Combine: to have the same number of events being triggered as the number of view fields that are changed at the same time.
Example: if you send an email to the accounts department if the customer credit limit is changed or when the customer terms is changed and both fields are changed at the same time – you will have two emails being sent if you choose not to combine events. If you choose to combine events, one email will be sent.
Select the type of action to be associated with this event.
Depending on the Action, the following fields will be made available
- Log Change :No additional fields will appear
- Run Program : call a nominated program if the view field is changed. For this Action you need to define the following :
- Command : use the find icon to browse to find the program to be run when this Event is triggered
- Working folder : browse to find the working folder for the program specified in “Command” field above
- Send Email : create and send an email if the view field is changed. For this Action you need to define the following :
- Email To : specify the Email address(es) separated by semi-colon “;” if more than one to whom the Email must be sent when this event is triggered
- Email CC : specify the Email address(es) separated by semi-colon “;” if more than one to whom the Email must be cc’d when this event is triggered.
- Email Message ID : use the finder to select the existing Message Template to be Emailed when this event is triggered
- Create I/M Note : create an Information Manager Note if the view field is changed. For his Action you need to also define the following
- Note Type : use the finder to select the existing Information Manager Note Type to be created/updated when this event is triggered.
- Key : Specify the View Field ID in braces “{xxx}” for the key field for the View to which the event is attached. For Example: if you are creating or amending an IM Note for customers, the Key Field would be defined as follows {IDCUST}
- Note Template : use the finder to select the existing Message Template to be Created/updated when this event is triggered.
Only visible for Send Email action. Complete with the email address of the required email recipient for the email to be sent when the action is triggered
Only visible for Send Email action. Complete with the email address of the required cc recipient for the email to be sent when the action is triggered
Only visible for Send Email action. Select the required email message id for the email to be sent when the action is triggered
Set to Yes if you want an on-screen notification when an email is sent.
Select No if you want to send the email in the background without a notification.
Only visible for Create I/M Note action. Select the required I/M Note type for the note to be updated/created when the action is triggered
Only visible for Create I/M Note action. Enter the key field for the I/M Note. This should be the key field in curly brackets (Braces {}) for the view to which the action will be attached. For example, when creating an IM Note for the AR0024 View – the Customer View, the key field should be {IDCUST}
Only visible for Create I/M Note action. Select the required I/M Note Email Message template for the I/M Note to be created or updated
