Bin Setup - Optional Fields
Before you start
-
Create Optional Fields in Common Services.
-
Use the Bin Tracking Optional Fields screen to assign them to Bin Tracking transactions and records.
Where to add Optional Fields in Bin Tracking
- Optional fields that you add to Bins appear in the Optional Fields tab on Bin Setup screens.
- Optional fields that you add to Bin Transaction Header appear in the Optional Fields tab on transaction entry screens.
- Optional fields that you add to Bin Transaction details appear as columns in the Detail table on transaction entry screens.
Tip: If the Bin Tracking optional fields are called the same as in the other modules (IC/OE/PO), and they are attached at the same level in Bin Tracking and the source module, then the optional fields will be copied from the source module to the associated Bin Transfer document.
Example: If you add the same optional field on the OE Shipment Header and the BT Bin Transfer Header, the optional field value will be copied from the OE Shipment Header to the Bin Transfer Header when the OE Shipment is posted.
When you run a Data Integrity Check in Bin Tracking, if an Optional field on Bin Tracking Documents (Header or Detail) is set to "Required", all documents are checked, including historical documents, as Bin Tracking doesn't know when the optional field was made required.
If you add a Required Optional field to the Bin Transaction documents (header or detail) after documents have been created, you may get data integrity errors for all documents created before the Optional Field was made Required. You can ignore such Data Integrity errors for transactions created before the optional field.
